Learn more about what to expect with this service
- The cost of the service is $29 consultation fee plus the cost of the medication(s) prescription after insurance coverage. Some insurance companies will also cover the $29 consultation fee. If you do not qualify, you will not be charged for the service.
- Motion sickness is considered a physiologic form of dizziness and occurs in response to real or perceived motion. Symptoms can include gastrointestinal, central nervous system, and autonomic symptoms. You can help prevent motion sickness with behavioral and pharmacologic strategies.

- If insurance information is provided, the pharmacist will help determine an effective and affordable option considering your insurance plan. Some medications are available over the counter and may not be covered by your insurance.
- Once you complete the intake form, a clinical pharmacist will contact you and determine qualification.
- This service is a great option if:
- You are between the ages of 18 to 64 years old
- Have experienced motion sickness in the past and are anticipating a future exposure event
- If you do not qualify, the pharmacist can assist with a referral to an Intermountain provider for evaluation.
- The initial prescription might be a one-time prescription or have enough to cover a few motion sickness exposures. Once all refills are exhausted, you will need to request a new prescription by completing the same online form or working with your provider.

- Antihistamines like dimenhydrinate (Dramamine®), diphenhydramine (Benadryl®), and meclizine (Antivert®, Bonine®) or antihistamine-like medication of promethazine (Phenergan®)
- Topical anticholinergic patch scopolamine (Transderm Scop®)
- You can expect to be contacted by the clinical pharmacist within a few hours (between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM MST) following submission of the intake form and depending on the time selected for a return call. The medication will be delivered to your home within 3-5 business days from the Intermountain Home Delivery Pharmacy. Shipping is free. The clinical pharmacist will work with you to identify a different arrangement if a more rapid turnaround is needed.
